Info COVID-19

REOPENING THE TERRITORY

► All flights to the Territory are suspended until 27 March, 2021, with the exception of repatriation and cargo flights, subject to authorization.
► All international travellers are advised to postpone their travel.
► The entry of ocean liners, fishing boats and leisure boats arriving from abroad into New Caledonian waters remains prohibited (except French government or military vessels).

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the capacity limits of quarantine hotels, regular international flights departing to and arriving in New Caledonia have been suspended (with the exception of repatriation and cargo flights, subject to authorization) as of March 20 at least through 27 March, 2021.

Anyone with plans to travel to New Caledonia should contact their airline or travel agency.

We strongly recommend waiting for the official announcement of the date when the suspension will be lifted before re-booking air travel to New Caledonia on regularly scheduled commercial flights.

HEALTH STATUS AND HYGIENE MEASURES

Over 14,000 screenings:
27 confirmed cases (all imported) — 27 recovered — 0 hospitalized — 0 deaths

On arrival, returning New Caledonians are subject to a mandatory, supervised 14 day quarantine period in designated hotel.

All individuals are tested at the end of their hotel quarantine period. If the test is negative, they can return home.

Based on these two findings (absence of the virus circulating within New Caledonia and entry restrictions considered to be effective), the decision was made to lift all remaining restrictions on daily life in New Caledonia, as of Monday, June 15). Nevertheless, residents are advised to continue following the previously established hygiene measures.

PROTECTING THE HEALTH OF THE POPULATION

Thanks to strict measures that were put in place early, New Caledonia was relatively unaffected by COVID-19.

Nevertheless, the Government of New Caledonia has decided to exercise caution when it comes to opening its borders to ensure the safety of the local population. The borders will therefore remain closed to international visitors for now, until at least October 24.
